Client feature - Marc Aitken Photography
Marc Aitken has been surrounded by fashion, photographers and models for as long as he can remember. His Mother was 60’s model Pamela Portman, who ran her own model agency and whose circle included Brian Epstein, legendary fashion photographer Norman Parkinson and Andrew Loog Oldham Manager of the Rolling Stones. He studied Theatre Lighting and Set Design at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where he was taught by respected lighting designers Richard Pilbrow and John B. Read among others. A career in Theatre and Rock ’n Roll followed during which he worked on the original Kate Bush tour and spent five years working in London’s West End Theatre on shows such as Barnum and Evita.
More recently, he has worked with both Peter Gabriel and renowned music video director Dick Caruthers, filming artists as diverse as Rush to Usher. His experience of set design, theatre lighting and film-making gives his photography a filmic and theatrical edge, allowing him to tell a story through the still image.
“I love fashion, I grew up surrounded by it. The 1960’s are a big influence on me and I am always trying to sneak a bit of that Pop Art glamour and fun into everything I do”. In addition to his work with magazines and online fashion publications, Marc has built a reputation for bringing his signature style to portrait shoots for private clients who wish to acquire images that transport them from the ordinary to a world limited only by the imagination.

CHIHARU SHIOTA

Love the new Pirelli Calendar.
In recent years, Pirelli calendars have moved away from their ultra-glam aesthetic and this year's by Peter Lindbergh is no different. His aim was to "create a calendar not around perfect bodies, but on sensitivity and emotion, stripping down to the very soul of the sitters, who thus become more nude than naked." He also chose to not retouch the images. The 44th edition, titled Emotional, features Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlotte Rampling, Léa Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Robin Wright, and Zhang Ziyi. In an unexpected twist, Moscow State University professor Anastacia Ignatova also stars. Beautiful images, wonderfully photographed.
